The police recovered two decomposed bodies from a car parked in the basement of a hospital in Mouchak area in Dhaka city on Monday afternoon.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police removed the bodies in the afternoon on the day from the basement of Dr Sirajul Islam Medical College and Hospital where they were found.

The deceased have been identified as car driver Zakir and another man named Mizan, both were from Chatkil upazila in Noakhali district.

DMP Ramna Division deputy commissioner Masud Alam told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that people identified them at about 12:30pm on Monday after which they removed the bodies.

‘The two men came to Dhaka with the private car for picking a child patient who was admitted to that hospital. They were supposed to take the child back to Noakhali,’ the officer said, adding they were waiting as the hospital authority did not discharge the child.

The car’s owner Sourav was also a resident of Chatkhil, said the police officer.

Referring to CCTV footage, Masud said that they had identified the two entering into the hospital at about 5:30am on Saturday.

In the CCTV footage, car owner Sourav was seen leaving the hospital after talking at the reception, he added.

He said that the bodies were decomposed due to excessive heat in the basement.

Masud said that the bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
