
The body of a woman who went missing after falling into an open drain in Tongi was recovered on Tuesday morning, nearly three days after the incident.
Md Shahin Alam, senior station officer of Tongi Fire Service, said that the body was retrieved from a waterbody in Haydarabad area of Tongi at about 9:00am.
The deceased was identified as Faria Taznim Jyoti, 31, daughter of late Oliullah Ahmed Babul of village Baganpara in Chuadanga Sadar upazila.
She was a resident of Dhaka鈥檚 Mirpur area and worked as a sales manager at Moni Trading Corporation.
Jyoti accidentally fell into the uncovered manhole in front of a hospital near Hossain Market on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at about 9:00pm on Sunday night.
Local people tried to rescue her but failed and later informed the fire service.
After two nights and a full day of search operations, rescue teams launched a fresh drive on Tuesday morning and recovered the body from a waterbody.
