A Naogaon court on Friday afternoon sent a quack herbal doctor to jail in two cases filed over the alleged rape of two children at the districts鈥� Manda upazila.
The accused, Savar Ali, 55, known as Savar Ali Kabiraj of Debipur village under Varshon union, runs a herbal medicine shop in Koripatti area of Chowbaria Bazar.
Manda police officer-in-charge Mansur Rahman said that they arrested Savar after the families of two children filed two separate cases on charges of rape.
He said that ordered by a Naogaon court, they sent him to jail.
According to the case statement, on September 18, a class VI student of a local school went to Savar Ali鈥檚 herbal medicine shop with her classmate as she felt stomach pain.
Savar took the sick student to a secret room in the name of doing stomach examination and raped her.
At that time, her classmate was made to sit in an outside chamber.
The victim student said that Savar also took her classmate into the room to see her and raped her too within half an hour.
In the case statement the victim said that for fear of public shame they initially kept their rape from their families.
They came out with it as some of their classmates advised them to do so when they had confided in them about their rapes, the statement said.
