The Rapid Action Battalion has arrested two more suspects in connection with the murder of Golam Kibria, member secretary of the Juba Dal’s Pallabi thana unit in the capital Dhaka.

The arrestees are listed crime suspect and alleged mastermind of the murder, Monir Hossain Sohel alias ‘Pata Sohel’, and Md Sujon.

Lieutenant Colonel Mahbub Alam, commander of the RAB-4, provided the information on Wednesday afternoon at a press briefing at the RAB Media Centre at Karwan Bazar in the capital, saying that the killing was a planned operation.

‘The murder came following a political feud and previous enmity over establishing dominance while a large sum of money was paid for the murder,’ said Mahbub.

The suspects arrested in the case were also wanted in many other cases related to robbery, murder, illegal possession of drugs and arms.

Kibria, member secretary of the Pallabi thana unit of Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal, the youth front of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, was shot dead inside a hardware shop at Pallabi on Monday evening in what investigators described as a targeted attack. The miscreants fled the scene immediately after opening fire.

Jony Bhuiyan, the prime accused in the case, was arrested at Pallabi Section-12 following the incident on Monday.

Kibria’s wife Sabiha Akther Dina filed the murder case with the Pallabi police station against five named and seven to eight unnamed individuals.
