National Citizen Party joint chief organiser for north Alik Mree resigned from his position protesting at the ‘silence’ of the party over the incidents in Khagrachari. 

He was the only representative from the national minority groups in the central committee of the party.


At least three national minority community people were killed and several dozens, including security personnel, were injured as violence erupted once again in Khagrachari on Sunday amid road blockade there protesting at the rape of a 12-year-old Marma girl.

Alik, who is from Garo community, on Monday told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· he had submitted his resignation letter to the NCP via email on Monday morning.

In a Facebook post on his profile on Monday, he said that he had resigned from his NCP post protesting at the silence of the party and the lies by NCP leader Abdul Hannan Masud about the rape.

He said that till 3:30pm he did not get any reply via email.
