Unidentified assailants stabbed a leader of Awami League to death on the roof of his residence at Dakshin Surma upazila in Sylhet on Friday morning.
The deceased Abdur Razzak is son of late Moulul Hossain of Telirai village at Mollargaon union under the Dakshin Surma upazila. He was the AL鈥檚 South Surma upazila unit vice-president and Dakshin Surma Upazila Sports Association鈥檚 former general secretary, police said.
Quoting the victim鈥檚 family members, local residents said that Abdur Razzak went to walk on the roof of his house after offering the Fajr prayer. They also said that as the victim鈥檚 family members could not find him at home at about 9:00am, they went to the roof to search and found his blood soaked body lying there.
After being informed, police reached the spot and recovered the body, the locals said.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police additional deputy commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam confirmed the killing to 抖阴精品 and said that Abdur Razzak was murdered between 6:30am and 9:30 am.
鈥楾here were marks of stabbing at different parts of his body,鈥� he said, adding that the body was sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The police officer also said in the evening that they were working to identify the killers.
