At least 27 female police members were injured when a bus overturned inside Chattogram Police Lines on Friday afternoon.

The Police said that the officers were on their way to the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in the port city’s Sagorika area to perform duties during the ongoing Bangladesh–West Indies cricket match.

Chattogram Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Welfare and Force) Mohammad Hasan Mostafa Swapan said that the female police personnel were heading to the Sagorika Stadium to perform duties during the cricket match between Bangladesh and the West Indies. The bus carrying them lost control and hit a tree while going downhill from an elevated point inside the Dampara Police Lines compound.

He said, ‘27 female police members were injured in the accident, but none of them sustained critical injuries.’

Twelve of the injured were admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, while the rest received treatment at the Dampara Police Lines Hospital. All of them were out of danger, said Nurul Alam Asheq, sub-inspector of the CMCH police outpost.
