Unidentified killers killed the wife of the general secretary of Mogra Union unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party in Tangail Sadar Upazila.
The incident took place at Leon Bakery at West Quizbari Bazar in Mogra Union of Tangail Sadar upazila at about 8:30pm on Tuesday.
The deceased, Lily Akhter, 42, was the wife of SM Anisur Rahman alias Uttam of Quizbari area of Tangail Sadar Upazila.
Police and local people said that four to five masked people entered the West Leon Bakery in Quizbari Bazar at about 8:30pm.
The attackers stabbed Lily Akhter as they could not find the bakery owner and general secretary of the BNP Magra Union unit Anisur Rahman.
Local people rescued Lily Akhter in a critical condition and took her to the emergency department of Tangail General Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Tangail Sadar Model Police Station officer-in-charge Tanvir Ahmed said, 鈥楾he body has been sent to the morgue of the hospital. Efforts are underway to identify the killers.鈥�
District unit BNP general secretary Advocate Farhad Iqbal said, 鈥楾he wife of BNP鈥檚 Mogra Union unit general secretary Anisur Rahman Uttam was killed by unidentified killers.鈥�
