Chief adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus would hold separate meetings with three political parties — the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, and the National Citizen Party — today to discuss the country’s current political situation and the preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

At a press briefing on Saturday outside the state guest house Jamuna in the capital, the chief adviser’s press secretary, Shafiqul Alam, confirmed the meeting schedules.

The chief adviser will  meet the BNP at 3:00pm, the Jamaat at 4:30pm, and the NCP at 6:00pm at Jamuna.

Replying to a question, the press secretary said that the 13th national parliamentary elections would be held on schedule in the first half of February 2026, prior to February 15 and before Ramadan.

He said that no force or conspiracy would be allowed to obstruct the electoral process, reiterating the government’s firm commitment to hold the polls on time.

Shafiqul Alam also said that the current law and order in the country was sufficiently conducive to holding the election in the first half of February.

The police have been asked to provide regular updates and comparative statistics on security situations to facilitate monitoring and maintain a safe electoral environment, he added.
