The police arrested eight more leaders and activists of Awami League, which is banned from running party activities, from different parts of Dhaka city allegedly for disrupting law and order by bringing out flash processions.

Several teams of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch made the arrests between 3:00pm and 11:00pm Sunday after conducting drives, said a DMP press release issued on Monday.


The detainees are Ekram Hossain, a union parishad level leader of banned Bangladesh Chhatra League in Feni, Adnan Pipul, Daganbhuyan Thana unit BCL leader, Md Asibul Haque Arnab, member of Tejgaon University College unit BCL, Sajib Rahim Palak, Daganbhuyan Thana unit BCL leader, Saker Alam, member of Iqbal Memorial College unit BCL in Feni, Md Zahurul Islam, Chuadanga zila parishad member, Mokarram Hossain, vice-president of Ward 63 AL unit at Jatrabari in Dhaka, and Yasmin Rahman, general secretary of Wari Thana Ward No 39 women AL.

Initial interrogation revealed that the detainees conducted processions and organized party activities for Awami League at different locations in Dhaka city.
