Leaders of the Left Democratic Alliance, a combine of six political parties, on Wednesday at a rally in Dhaka called on the interim government to take immediate steps to stop opposing women affairs commission report by some quarters.

The quarters were making derogatory comments on the women community of the country and demanding cancellation of the reports, the leaders of the combine said.


The LDA organised the rally in front of the National Press Club presided over by general secretary of the Revolutionary Communist League and also coordinator of the combine, Iqbql Kabir Jahid.

The Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, a religion based organisation, on Saturday at a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan听 demanded the cancellation of the women affairs reform commission and also made derogatory comments on the women community of the country, Iqbal Kabir Jahid said.

He called on the interim government to take immediate steps to stop opposing the report and taking action against those who made the derogatory comments on the women community.

Communist Party of Bangladesh general secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince called on all the political parties to be united against the evil forces.

Democratic Revolutionary Party general secretary Mushrefa Mishu said that the women community of the country would wage movements against derogatory comments by the evil forces against the women community.

Socialist Party of Bangladesh (Marxist) coordinator Masud Rana, SPB central leader Shampa Basu and Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal executive president Abdul Ali and Revolutionary Communist League central leader Nazrul Islam also spoke at the rally.

The rally was followed by a protest procession that paraded different city roads.
