Leathertech Bangladesh on Thursday inaugurated an international technology tradeshow ‘Leathertech Bangladesh 2024’ that focuses on leather, footwear machinery, shoe materials, chemical and accessories for footwear and leather-goods sector.

The 10th edition of the show will go on till November 23 at Expo Zone of International Convention City, Bashundhara in the capital Dhaka, according to a press release.


Leathertech Bangladesh announced the details of the exhibition at a press conference held at the ICCB on the day.

Nearly 200 exhibitors from 20 countries have participated in the event.

As Bangladesh’s leather and leather products sector is growing and expanding, the expo will be one of the most preferred platforms to penetrate and explore the Bangladesh leather, footwear and travel goods sector, the release said.

Shah Mohammad Mahboob, executive member (additional secretary) of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority, said, ‘If the full potential of the leather and leather products sector can be utilised, it will be possible to significantly increase the country’s export earnings.’

‘Participation from China has revived as their presence in the current edition is significant which in turn reflects the potential of the footwear and leather products sector in Bangladesh,’ Nanda Gopal, director of ASK Trade & Exhibitions Pvt Limited, the organisers of the tradeshow.

‘The exhibition is comprehensive and the local industry can benefit from the presence of global leaders at the three-day show,’ said Nanda Gopal added.

AKM Mushfiqur Rahman Masud, president of the Leather Engineers and Technologists Society, Bangladesh, and Mohiuddin Ahmed Mahin, chairman of the Bangladesh Finished Leather, Leather Goods, and Footwear Exporters’ Association, among others, were present in the programme.
