Bangladesh are in a must-win situation to qualify for the AFC Under-17 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 when they face Chinese Taipei in their Group H top place decider of the Qualifiers at the Aqaba Stadium in Jordan tonight.

The match is scheduled to begin at 10:00pm Bangladesh Standard Time.

As the eight group winners from the qualifiers will progress to the final stage in China, Bangladesh are currently in a disadvantageous position in the three-team group, as they have only one point from a 1-1 draw against hosts Jordan.

Chinese Taipei, conversely, secured a decisive 6-1 victory against Jordan, meaning they require only a draw against Bangladesh to progress alongside North Korea, Japan and South Korea for their  appearance in the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

Bangladesh coach Saiful Bari Titu was confident of giving a fight against mighty Chinese Taipei.

‘To qualify the final stage, we have no other alternative than winning the game...We want to play them with confidence. And we need to win the game,’ said Titu.

‘Chinese Taipei are undoubtedly a strong opponent. We watched their game, we have to avoid the mistakes those Jordan did… We have plans and confidence how we can avoid conceding goals and hurt them.

‘But at the end, everything depends on the girls’ performance on the field. They should believe in them and be ready to win the game, and I believe it is possible,’ Titu was speaking during training at the match venue on Thursday.
