Bangladesh鈥檚 second FIFA international friendly match against hosts Nepal has been cancelled due to political unrest within the country, as the nation erupted in protests against the government for the removal of the social media ban on Monday.

Bangladesh Football Federation general secretary Emran Hossain confirmed the development to the media.

The matches were part of Bangladesh鈥檚 preparation ahead of the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers against Hong Kong next month.

However, Javier Cabrera鈥檚 charges now have to return with premature preparation after a goalless draw in the first match against Nepal.

The nation was at a standstill as curfew was imposed within the capital, which forced the Bangladesh team鈥檚 practice session to be postponed and eventually cancelled later.

The players instead held gym sessions inside the hotel to ensure their safety.

Bangladesh were already on the back-foot after their overseas-based player Hamza Choudhury, who suffered an injury during a Championship League fixture, was ruled out of the friendlies.

Canada-based Shamit Shome had earlier informed his club of his unavailability for his commitments.

Youngsters Fahamedul Islam and Cuba Mitchell are busy with the under-23 football team for the AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers in Vietnam.

Meanwhile, thousands of demonstrators stormed the Nepalese parliament. According to reports, 19 individuals have died in confrontations between protesters and law enforcement.
