A team of the Rapid Action Battalion came under attack on Sunday night while the RAB members had been conducting an operation to nab drug peddlers at Kaliakoir in Gazipur.
Phulbaria police camp in-charge Suruj Zaman said that a team of the RAB conducted an operation to nab the drug peddlers in the Koritoli area under Kaliakoir upazila Sunday night, when a group of miscreants attacked them.
鈥極n information, we rushed to the spot. A case was filed with Kaliakoir police station regarding the attack,鈥� he said.
An operation by the RAB and the police was ongoing to nab the drug peddlers, he added.
Locals said that some people had been running a drug den in the area and it had been affecting the youths, including school-going children, in the Koroitoli and surrounding areas.
Acting on a tip-off, the RAB team went there and conducted an operation on Sunday night.
At that time, they arrested a suspected drug peddler.
Following the arrest, a group of miscreants armed with sharp weapons went to the spot and attacked the RAB members.
