The Finance Division on Monday asked all ministries and divisions to send budget revision proposals by November 8.

In a circular, it also asked them to follow instructions, including the maintaining of the existing ban on vehicle purchases, land acquisition and foreign tours, to prepare the revised proposals.

The ministries and divisions have also been asked not making any demand for new allocations.

However, they will be able to transfer funds from one head to another within the overall original budgetary allocations, said the circular issued at least a fortnight earlier than the past year鈥檚 one in the same issue.

The beginning of early exercise has been attributed to the interim government鈥檚 intention to revise the 2025-26 national budget in December.

The July-June national budget is usually revised in March-April of a financial year.

Finance Division officials said that they would have to revise the FY26 budget before the national election, slated for February 2026, so that the elected government faced no major problems in managing the budget.

The interim government, which assumed office after the ouster of Awami League regime on August 5 past year, is implementing the budget worth Tk聽7.9 lakh crore with the non-development expenditure accounting for 67.7 per cent and the development expenditure 32.2 per cent.
