A youth was hacked to death while another person was beaten to death in separate incidents in Noakhali鈥檚 Begumganj upazila on Friday.
According to the victims鈥� family members, Arman Hossain Bijoy, 18, was allegedly hacked to death over establishing dominance in the area and Abdur Rahman, 35, was beaten to death in a dispute over mobile phone.
In the incident of Bijoy鈥檚 death, family members alleged that miscreants hacked Arman, son of Shahin Chowdhury of Hajipur union of the upazila, to death in the New Bridge area of the upazila鈥檚 Eklashpur union at around 10:30pm on Friday.
In the incident of Abdur Rahman鈥檚 death, local people said that some local youths of the rival group severely beat him up on Thursday night following altercations over a mobile phone theft.
He was first taken to Noakhali General Hospital and later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed on Friday evening.
Begumganj police officer-in-charge Liton Dewan said that both bodies were sent to 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital for autopsy.
Legal action would be taken following investigations, he said, adding that according to doctors鈥� preliminary reports, Abdur Rahman might have died from illness caused by kidney-related complications.
