The Criminal Investigation Department has arrested the ringleader of a gang involved in defrauding Bangladesh Public Service Commission non-cadre job seekers.
The gang took money from job seekers in the name of providing them with ‘suggestions having 90 per cent in common’ with the question papers of various PSC non-cadre job examinations, the CID said in a press release issued on Wednesday.
The arrested was identified as Matiur Rahman, 32, a resident of Jamalpur, it said.
A team of the Cyber Police Centre of the CID arrested Matiur from the Melandaha thana area in Jamalpur district on Tuesday.
Earlier, on Monday, the PSC filed a case with the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station in this connection, said the CID release.
The CID said that the gang had been spreading the ‘sure suggestions’ before the recruitment exams for various posts of PSC (non-cadre) through social media, especially Facebook.
When the matter came to the PSC’s attention, the commission filed a complaint with the CID’s Cyber Police Centre on Monday.
Later, the CID started an investigation into the matter and identified the ringleader of the gang with the help of modern information technology.
