Police have arrested Awami Swechchhasebak League leader Iftekharul Islam Shuvo, 35, in four attempted murder cases filed during the anti-discrimination student movement.
He was arrested from Rangpur city鈥檚 CO Bazar area Saturday night based on a tip-off.聽
Rangpur Kotwali metropolitan police station officer-in-charge Md Ataur Rahman confirmed the matter to BSS on Sunday.
Arrested Shuvo is the organising secretary of the Rangpur Metropolitan Awami Swechchhasebak League. He is the son of Ashraful Islam of Mahiganj Dhumkhatia area of Rangpur metropolis.
Shuvo had been in hiding to avoid arrest after the fall of the Awami League regime in the July-August 2024 mass uprising.
鈥楬e has been arrested in four such cases filed by injured Mamunur Rashid Mamun, injured Joynal Abedin Bappi, injured Ramzan Ali and injured Shahidul Islam with the Rangpur metropolitan Kotwali police station,鈥� the OC added.
