Members of the Rapid Action Battalion on Monday night arrested a youth on charges of kidnapping and raping a Class VII schoolgirl in Rajshahi.
The arrested, Shahadat Hossain Bulbul, 20, is a resident of Chandpur Kakramari village under Charghat in the district, said a RAB-5 press release on Tuesday.
The release said that Bulbul used to harass the girl on her way to school. 鈥楤ulbul kidnapped the girl while she was going to school on June 25. Later, he took her to a rented house in Tikapara area of Rajshahi city and raped her.鈥�
After the victim鈥檚 family filed a case with Charghat police station, a team of the elite force rescued the victim and arrested the accused from Rajshahi city鈥檚 Alupatti area.
The accused was handed over to Charghat police station for further legal action.
