The government has so far renamed 808 infrastructures, establishments and institutions across the country that were previously named after ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her family members over the past 16 years.
The renaming process of 169 more structures bearing the names of the former prime minister and her family members was currently underway, said the chief adviser’s press wing in a statement issued on Thursday.
During the 16 years of the previous government, 977 infrastructures, establishments and institutions across the country were named after Sheikh Hasina, her family and Awami League politicians.
These included military cantonments, air bases, naval ships, mega bridges, roads, buildings, educational institutions, hospitals, and research centres.
‘A majority of these institutions have already been renamed, and the process of renaming the remaining ones is underway,’ the statement read.
