Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh has taken a pivotal step in its digital transformation journey by adopting Huawei's infrastructure as a service to bolster its disaster recovery capabilities, says a press release.

A formal agreement has been signed this week between EGCB and Huawei’s local partner, Omega Exim Ltd., at the Huawei Bangladesh Headquarters, Gulshan, Dhaka.


Mohammad Rasheduzzaman Khan, superintending engineer and head of ICT at EGCB and Abdullah Al Maksud Begh, director of Omega Exim Ltd singed the contract in presence of other officials of Huawei, Omega Exim Ltd and EGCB.

Under the agreement, Huawei IaaS will host EGCB’s DR site for an initial period of two years.

The solution is designed to provide a secure, scalable environment for data backup, replication, routine recovery testing, and swift restoration in the event of operational disruptions.

This will strengthen EGCB’s business operation capabilities and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards.

Omega Exim Ltd will serve as the local implementation and support partner, responsible for deploying the DR solution, managing the project, training EGCB staff, and ensuring long-term maintenance and compliance throughout the contract period.

At the event, M Rasheduzzaman Khan said, ‘We always strive to ensure the best service for the country and our people. Modernising our disaster recovery infrastructure is a top priority.
