
University Grants Commission of Bangladesh member Professor Masuma Habib at a seminar on Sunday called on teachers of higher education institutions to conduct quality research.
She said this while speaking as chief guest at the seminar titled Assessment of the Relevance of PhD Thesis and Teaching-Related Subjects Earned by Teachers held at the UGC, said a press release.
This academic seminar was organised to assess the relevance of the degree earned with teaching-related subjects after evaluating the PhD thesis of 12 teachers from various government colleges.
In the meeting, researchers made a number of suggestions, including following the relevant rules and regulations in conducting research, publishing research results, assessing the compatibility of research topics with teaching-related subjects when granting permission to government college teachers to do PhDs, evaluating the impact of these studies on society, using appropriate software to prevent plagiarism in research written in Bangla, and strengthening UGC monitoring in assessing the quality of research in public universities.
