
Bangladesh women’s team beat Uruguay by 3.5-0.5 points, while the men’s team drew against Hungary B team in the sixth round of the 45th Chess Olympiad in Budapest, Hungary, on Monday.
With the day’s results, the Bangladesh women’s team jumped to 57th from 75th place, while the men’s team moved to 62nd place from 74th, both with seven points from six rounds.
In the open section, Bangladesh grandmaster Niaz Murshed beat GM Papp Gabor, international master Fahad Rahman drew against GM Kozak Adam, FIDE master Manon Reza Neer lost to GM Banusz Tamas, and GM Enamul Hossain Rajib drew against GM Antal Gergely.
In the women’s section, WCM Walijah Ahmed, WFM Wadifa Ahmed, and WIM Rani Hamid beat Fabra Nahiara, Cardozo Camila, and Altesor Caterina, while WFM Noshin Anjum was held to a draw by WFM Quevedo Andreina.
In the seventh round of the open section, Bangladesh will play against Slovakia, while the women’s team will play against the Dominican Republic today.
