
A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Academy of Garments Technology Bangladesh and the Chittagong University as a step to create skilled human resources for the country’s garment industry sector and to bring about a combination of industry and academia.
Vice-chancellor of Chittagong University Professor Muhammad Yeahia Akhter was present as chief guest at the ceremony at the Le Meridien in Dhaka on Tuesday, said a press release.
CU VC said that through this agreement, new horizons had been opened in the field of creating skilled human resources in the garment industry sector and opening up new horizons in the field of industry and academia.
‘Through this, students will get many benefits. According to the agreement, both institutions will jointly conduct various research and development activities. In addition, various workshops, training and competitions will be organised to make students skilled according to the needs of the industry,’ he added.
This MoU will be effective for three years and will be automatically renewed with the consent of both parties.
The agreement signing ceremony was attended by CU acting registrar Professor Mohammad Saiful Islam on behalf of Chittagong University and strategic partner Henry Su on behalf of Garments Technology Academy Bangladesh.
