The deceased, Rezaul Islam Tarafder, 48, was wanted in nine cases, the police and locals said.
The victim鈥檚 son Mehedi Hasan said that the miscreants called his father over the phone and, when he came out of the house at about 12:30am on Wednesday, the assailants hacked him and fled the spot, leaving him in a pool of blood.
He said that they rushed his father to Jashore General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. 聽
Rezaul鈥檚 relatives alleged that he was killed over an internal feud of the party.
They said that Rezaul鈥檚 father Golam Tarafder and brother Insar Ali Tarafder were killed over a previous rivalry several years ago.
Kotwali police station officer in-charge Abul Hasnat Khan said the police had primarily identified the reasons behind the killing, but they would not disclose them for the sake of the investigation.
