Protesting students of Milestone School and College confined law adviser Asif Nazrul, education adviser CR Abrar, chief adviser’s press secretary Shafiqul Alam and deputy press secretary Abul Kalam Azad Mozumder on the campus on Tuesday demanding that the government should disclose the real number of deaths in Bangladesh Air Force‘s fighter jet crash.

They remained confined till filing this report at about 1:30pm.

Students chased them on the campus several times and chanted slogans — Bhua, Bhua.

While addressing the student gathering at about 12:45pm, law adviser Asif Nazrul apologised to them on behalf of the government as members of security forces misbehaved with students.

He said that all demands of the students would be accepted and the government would publish the exact number of deaths and injured people.

‘A control room will be set up here. Updates will be given in every hour,’ he added.

Students alleged that the government tried to conceal the exact number of victims and disappear bodies after a Bangladesh Air Force jet crashed into a building of Milestone School and College in the capital’s Uttara area on Monday.

Students also alleged that at least 150 students were killed in the incident while the health ministry on Tuesday morning confirmed 27 deaths.

Agitating students of Milestone School and College on Tuesday staged protests over the attack on their fellows by the security forces and disappearing bodies of the victims of Monday’s crash.

The protests erupted inside and outside the campus when law adviser Asif Nazrul and education adviser CR Abrar came to visit the campus at about 10:45am on Tuesday.

Students chanted slogans against the authorities when Asif Nazrul and CR Abrar arrived on the campus.

The agitating students also chased CA press secretary Shafiul Alam and deputy press secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumdar on the campus.

However, they managed to enter into the conference room of the institution.

Students began staging the protests outside the campus at about 8:00am.

Mahin Hossain, a Class XI student, wanted to know the reasons of ambulance and Army members’ presence on the campus after declaration of the end of rescue operations.

‘They have taken away bodies and parts of bodies to hide the death figure,’ he said, adding that they also beat protesting students and teachers.

Several students alleged that when teachers tried to publish the exact figure of casualties, the members of security forces charged on them.

A hectic situation was prevailing on the campus.

Chief adviser press wing in a statement on Tuesday morning denied the allegation of hiding bodies.
