
The death toll in Bangladesh Air Force aircraft crash on Monday rises to 27 till Tuesday morning.
The deaths of 25 children, among 27 individuals could be confirmed after an FT-7 BGI fighter jet crashed into Milestone School and College in Uttara on Monday.
Of 25 deceased children, many were under the age of 12, with extensive burn injuries.
The other two victims included the aircraft’s pilot and a female schoolteacher.
DNA samples of the six deceased were collected for identifications while one suspected human body remain was yet to be confirmed.
Md Sayedur Rahman, special assistant to the chief adviser for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, disclosed the information at a press briefing at National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Tuesday morning.
10 bodies were handed over to their families from the burn unit, eight from Combined Military Hospital, one each from United Hospital and Dhaka Medical College Hospital, he said during the briefing.
‘Six bodies are yet to be identified and DNA samples have been collected from those. Process is underway to confirm if the another remain is of human body,’ Sayedur said.
He also shared that a total of 78 injured people, mostly children, are undergoing treatment at four city hospitals.
A total of five injured are undergoing treatment at the burn unit’s Intensive Care unit and two of them are on ventilation, Sayedur added.
