Md Ahsan Habib, a talented Bangladeshi student, has been recognised for his exceptional creativity and academic excellence with a gold medal at one of India’s premier institutions, the University of Hyderabad. He was awarded the Sri L N Murthy Memorial Gold Medal for outstanding achievement.

On October 7, during the university’s 25th convocation, Ahsan received the medal for achieving the highest overall results in the Master of Performing Arts (M.P.A.) in Theatre Arts programme. In addition, he was honoured as the Best Outgoing Student of the S N School of Arts and Communication for his academic and creative accomplishments.


Hailing from Dinajpur, Bangladesh, Ahsan completed his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre at Jagannath University, Dhaka, before pursuing his postgraduate degree at the University of Hyderabad under the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) scholarship.

Reflecting on his achievement, he described it as ‘the most inspiring and creative chapter’ of his life.

‘I feel honoured to represent Bangladesh in this field of art and education. This award will inspire me to further explore theatre as a bridge between cultures. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all my faculties, friends, and classmates here for their selfless support — and to my Department of Theatre Arts at UoH,’ Ahsan said.

Ahsan Habib’s accomplishment underscores the growing presence and excellence of Bangladeshi students in international academia and the arts.

The University of Hyderabad, one of South Asia’s leading research institutions, currently hosts students from 18 countries. Its Performing Arts programme was ranked among the top 100–120 worldwide in 2024.
