Professor Dr Jahanara Alauddin, the head of the paediatric anaesthesia department at Shishu Hospital, has been awarded Professor Quazi Quamruzzaman Best Paediatric Surgeon Gold Medal 2025.

Professor Jahanara received the award at the 12th national conference of the Association of Paediatric Surgeons of Bangladesh organised at a hotel in Cox’s Bazar recently, said a press release on Monday.


Renowned paediatric surgeons of the country participated in the conference. Every year

Professor Quazi Quamruzzaman Best Paediatric Surgeon Gold Medal is awarded to a distinguished paediatric surgeon.

This medal is given in the name of Professor Quazi Quamruzzaman, the founder of the Association of Paediatric Surgeons of Bangladesh, a brave freedom fighter, Ekushey Padak recipient, and chairman of Dhaka Community Hospital Trust.

Professor Md Sayedur Rahman, special assistant to the chief adviser, attended the conference as the chief guest with health secretary Md Saidur Rahman, Health Education and Family Welfare secretary Dr Md Sarwar Bari, Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council president, Professor Mohammad

Saiful Islam and Directorate General of Medical Education director Professor Nazmul Hossain present, among others.
