Leaders and activists of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal factions on Friday observed the party’s 53rd founding anniversary in separate events with the demand for early democratic transition in the country.
Three factions of the party chalked out separate events to observe the day.
The Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD organised a discussion at the National Press Club auditorium where Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was the chief guest.
Chaired by party senior vice-president Tania Rob, Nagarik Oikya president Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Revolutionary Workers Party general secretary Saiful Huq, Gono forum acting president Subrata Chowdhury, Bhashani Onusari Parishad chair Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, AB Party chair Mojibur Rahman Monju, JSD general secretary Shahid Uddin Mahmod Shapon and others spoke in the discussion.
The Bangladesh Jasod held a discussion at the Abdus Salam auditorium also at the National Press Club, which president Sharif Nurul Ambia chaired.
Communist Party of Bangladesh former president Mujahidul Islam Selim, Jahangirnagar University teacher Sohel Ahmed, Bangladesh Jasod general secretary Nazmul Haque Prodhan, standing committee member Mushtuq Husein and others spoke.  Â
The Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-Jasod, too, held a discussion to mark the day at the Colonel Taher auditorium, which executive president of the party Rabiul Alam chaired.
Central leaders of the party Shafi Uddin Molla, Obaidur Rahman Chunnu, and others spoke at the event.
The JSD was formed on October 31, 1972 by then student and youth leaders who played a leading role in the War of Independence of the country in 1971.
