Young visual artist Mohammed Hashem鈥檚 debut solo art exhibition titled Visible/Invisible is under way at Alliance Fran莽aise de Dhaka, Dhanmondi, in the capital.

The exhibition displayed his 33 artworks created on paper with acrylic, charcoal and watercolour, depicting the diversity of nature and human thoughts.

Hashem, raised at Bandarban, depicts the dramatic landscapes of the hilly areas, mostly rivers and greenery with majestic lights.

Some landscapes of plain land and urban chaos are also depicted in his artworks, and an expressionist series of portraits created in charcoal shows his experiences of time and life.

An acrylic on canvas titled Vessel of Rust shows the shipbreaking yard with scratchy colours and pale landscape of the riverside area.

A series of floral images titled Whispers of Sun, composed of three images, depicts the journey of a sunflower from bloom to dry.

Another acrylic on paper titled Mist on the Sangu shows the foggy view of Sangu River, a hilly river winding the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

His charcoal on paper titled Surroundings uses human shadows without details to symbolise that the world is full of uncertainty.

Hashem completed his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Development Alternative and subsequently, received multiple recognitions including the Best Media Award at the UODA Annual Art Exhibition in 2022 and the Grand Award at the National Art Competition organised by the Bangladesh Police Liberation War Museum in 2024.

The exhibition dedicated to late artist Professor Hamiduzzaman Khan was inaugurated on November 8.

The 15-day exhibition will end on November 22.
