Twenty Bangladeshi artists’ artworks are being displayed at the 11th edition of the Geoje International Art Festival at the Daesan Art Museum in Busan, South Korea.

The exhibition will also be held at three different venues, including Haegeumgang Theme Museum in Busan and Kim Boseong Art Center in Seoul.

The theme for this edition is ‘Blooming Art: Art Value Development Project’, which features 395 artists from 60 countries whose artworks were selected for the museum through a virtual jury process.

Heidi Fosli was the jury president for this year’s festival, where she facilitated the international jury committee while renowned Bangladeshi artist-curator Nazia Andaleeb Preema was a member of the exhibition’s jury and also curated the Bangladeshi artists.

Tarek Amin, Samia Afrin, Rasel Rana, Ruposhree Hajong, Arif Bachchu, Iqbal Bahar Chy, and Nabaraj Roy, among others, are the Bangladeshi participants of the exhibition. Arman Chowdhury from Bangladesh won the Best Artists award, while Md Kamaluddin and Rubayet won the Artist’s Excellence Award.

Nazia Andaleeb Preema also played a vital role as the chairman of the Digital Art Committee of the International Culture and Art Federation in Busan for the 2025-26 sessions and received acclamation from the mayor of Jeongeup city and the foundation’s director, Ya Cheon-Eob, for her extraordinary passion and dedication to promoting international exchange through art and culture

‘We are now living in a virtual world where everything is connected to each other. Technology is a gift to cultivate human power by collaboration, empathy and with greater purpose to serve nature and the world,’ Preema said, adding that the exhibition is a joint venture where the artists achieved a remarkable feat by being supportive in promoting one’s culture and art and being a part of this art ecosystem.

‘This was the first-ever virtual jury process of artwork selection for a museum, and apart from their world-famous Korean hospitality, they really know how to honor art and artists, something that we can learn from them even better,’ Preema continued.

On the 10th edition, eleven renowned Bangladeshi artists including Rokeya Sultana, Anukul Mojumder, Abu Kalam Shamsuddin, Sourav Chowdhury, Azmeer Hossain, Vinita Karim, and Nazia Andaleeb Preema displayed their artworks for the museum’s permanent collection.

Since its opening in 2005, the Haegeumgang Theme Museum has focused on a wide variety of themes, including modern and contemporary Korean history and living materials, European culture and history, maritime history, war history and contemporary art.

This three-month exhibition was inaugurated on October 14 and will end on December 25.
