A three-day solo art exhibition by Bangladeshi artist Urmila Shukla began on Friday on the campus of the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris in Paris of France.

The open air painting exhibition titled Under the Trees was inaugurated on the day as part of the centenary event of the university portraying mostly birds under trees.

Painter and designer Urmila Shukla’s first solo exhibition features birds, flowers, leaves, insects and dry branches and leaves.

‘Reality led us to seek shelter under the trees and I try to find joys in the presence of flowers and birds,’ Urmila said, adding that she has chosen the title as she wants to show birds under the trees.

The exhibition pays tribute to the birds of Bangladesh and prays that all the birds and flowers of the world live in peace and joy, said Urmila.

Urmila Shukla, wife of Rahul Ananda, now sifted with her family in Paris.

Earlier on August 5, a mob attacked their residence in the capital’s Dhanmondi 32 area, and burnt and looted their musical instruments and other belongings amid chaos in the aftermath of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s ouster.

The exhibition will end on June 23.
