The Supreme Court on Tuesday clarified that chief justice Syed Refaat Ahmed did not issue any show-cause or explanation notices to three High Court judges, Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam, Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman, and Justice Md Zakir Hossain, over the granting of a large number of bail.

The clarification was made in a statement issued by the Supreme Court’s public relations officer, Md Shafiqul Islam, Tuesday afternoon in a move to clear confusion created by some media reports.

The statement said that the chief justice sought case-related information from the three judges as part of routine administrative activities under the court’s internal management process.
