Nineteen artists have displayed their artworks created with organic colour at a group art exhibition under way at the Gallery Bhumi at Lalmatia in the capital.
Inaugurated on July 12, the 10-day charcoal art exhibition titled Instinct + Organic, jointly organised by Gallery Bhumi and Shilpangan, is featuring 72 artworks, which have been created with organic powders as pigments and charcoal.
Curated by senior artist Tarun Ghosh, artists Biren Shome, Tarun Ghosh, Mohammad Eunus, Jamal Ahmed, Afrozaa Jamil Konka, Mohammad Iqbal, Javed Jalil, Karu Titas, Rezaul Haque Liton, Mahmudur Rahman Dipon, Anukul Chandra Mojumder, Shulekha Chaudhury, AH Dhali Tomal, Biplab Biprodas, Hasura Akter Rumky, Monjur Rashid, Farzana Rahman Bobby, Sonya Binta Hasan and Anamuz Zahid have displayed artworks at the exhibition.
Artists attempt to portray landscape, portraits, urban architecture, animals, birds, beauty of nature and others in the artworks of the exhibition.
Tarun Ghosh delved into the aesthetics of organic powders as pigments and the core of charcoal black carbon residue used by artists since prehistoric times, especially for its effect of creating chiaroscuro, wrote artist Javed Jalil.
Tarun Ghosh told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that he had been practising artworks created with organic colour for the past few years.
‘Artists since prehistoric times use pigments and the core of charcoal black carbon for creating artworks,’ said the artist, adding, ‘In the ‘80s, I was genuinely fascinated by the magic of light in the darkness.’
Tarun Ghosh also hopes that if it gets wide promotion, it will be practised for creating artworks.
It is an outstanding exhibition as it is the first exhibition featuring artworks created with organic colour, said senior artist Mohammad Eunus, adding that artist Tarun Ghosh deserved acclamation for taking the step.Â
Saifur Rahman Lenin, founder of the Gallery Bhumi, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that they took the initiative to organise the workshop for promoting artworks created by the colour.
‘I have been involved with arts for about three decades. We would like to take more initiatives for promoting the country’s arts,’ said Lenin.
The exhibition will end on July 21.
