Bank Asia PLC, Mercantile Bank PLC and NRB Bank PLC on Monday signed memorandums of understanding with the National Pension Authority to support implementation of the Universal Pension Scheme, said a press release.

Finance Division secretary Md Khairuzzaman Mozumder was present as chief guest at the signing ceremony held at the division premises in the capital.


NPA executive chairman Md Mohiuddin Khan presided over the event.

Bank Asia managing director Sohail R K Hussain, MBPLC MD Matiul Hasan and NRB Bank MD and CEO Tarek Reaz Khan signed separate agreements with the NPA on behalf of their respective banks.

The Universal Pension Scheme, run by the NPA, has four separate programs — Probas, Pragati, Suraksha and Samata. A unique pension ID is provided to each participant, through which they can instantly monitor their contributions and profits online. In addition to post-retirement financial security, the scheme also offers income tax concessions, loan facilities and government co-partnership for the poor and underprivileged, the release said.
