
India is going to send a team of burn-specialist doctors and nurses with necessary medical support for those under treatment with burn injuries from Monday’s Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet crash on a school premises in Dhaka.
‘A team of burn-specialist doctors and nurses with necessary medical support are scheduled to visit Dhaka shortly to treat the victims,’ said a press release of the Indian external affairs ministry issued on Tuesday.
The medical team will make an assessment of the condition of patients with recommendation for further treatment and specialised care in India as necessary.
Additional medical teams may also follow depending on their preliminary assessment and treatment, according to the release shared by the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Wednesday.
At least 32 people, mostly primary-level students, died and around 165 were injured as the fighter jet during a training flight crash-landed on the Milestone School and College campus at Uttara on Monday afternoon.
Following the tragic incident, Indian prime minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences at the loss of lives in the tragic air crash in Dhaka and conveyed assurances of support and assistance.
