The authorities of the Milestone School and College formed a seven-member committee Tuesday night to find out the accurate numbers of the killed, injured and missing students, officials said.

The authorities closed the institution’s access to the students, guardians and media throughout the day. No guardians or relatives of any missing students or others were seen near the gates of and around the institution.

The committee, headed by the institution principal Mohammad Ziaul Alam, is scheduled to submit a report in three working days.

Milestone School and College head teacher Khadiza Akhter told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that they received claims for three missing students and two guardians till Wednesday.

‘This information is being updated frequently,’ she added.

‘Patients are being treated in three categories based on the severity of their injuries. Of the 44 admitted victims, eight are now in critical condition, 13 are in severe condition and 23 other patients are in intermediate condition,’ he said.

A three-member medical team, a doctor and two nurses, from Singapore has already arrived in Dhaka.

‘We shared our decisions with the doctor from Singapore today, while the Singaporean doctor shared opinions as well,’ he said, and added that each patient’s case was being reviewed individually.

Professor Nasir mentioned that discussions were also held on medication, possible surgeries, dressing changes, and other treatment protocols.

Highlighting the vulnerability of children and the elderly, the director said that treatment was being administered based on what is appropriate for each age group.

All patients would be reassessed every 12 hours, he said, adding that there was currently no shortage of medicines or medical supplies.

The Directorate General of Health Services under the health and family welfare ministry also published updates about the deceased and injured patients till 7:15pm on Wednesday.

Though the authorities of Milestone School closed access to students, parents and media, some curious people came to visit the spot.

Razia Binte Ayesha, a student of Class X, was found waiting at about 12:40pm in front of one of the gates to take her bag that she had left in the school on the day of the accident.

She said that the authorities did not allow her to enter the school.

The school’s public relations officer Shah Babul claimed that police were not allowing anyone to enter the campus.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner (Uttara Division) Mohidul Islam claimed that the school authorities decided about the access and the police had nothing to do with the matter.

‘We have deployed police personnel on and outside the campus to maintain order and security,’ he added.

Talking to students during the confinement for nine hours on Tuesday, law adviser Asif Nazrul said that the students would get updates on deaths and injuries each hour from a control room on the campus.

Shah Babul, however, could not give any updates about the control room.

In a message to the media, the ISPR director Lieutenant Colonel Sami-Ud-Dowla Chowdhury urged people not to pay heed to the rumours on hiding information about the students in the jet crash incident.

He also said that any media could probe into the matter, and they would provide maximum support and full assistance.
