Six-time champions Abahani Limited suffered a shocking 2-1 loss to Brothers Union, while defending champions Mohammedan Sporting Club were held to a 1-1 draw by Police Football Club as the Bangladesh Football League resumed following a 22-day break across three different venues in the country on Sunday.

In the day’s other match, Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society beat Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club 2-0 at the Shaheed Miraj-Tapan Stadium in Manikganj to go top of the 10-team points table.


Ghanian forward Clement Adu (52nd) opened the account for Rahmatganj before defender Rajon Hawladar added the other one in the seventh minute of injury time.

Abahani, who played a goalless draw against 10-man Rahmatganj in the first round, went down when Nepalese forward Anjan Bista gave Rahmatganj the lead in the very third minute before Brazilian forward Marcos Rudwere converted a penalty in the 58th minute at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.

Malian forward Souleymane Diabate pulled one goal back for Abahnai in the first minute of injury time.

Mohammedan, who suffered a 2-0 loss to Fortis FC in the first round, went 1-0 up with forward Rahim Uddin scoring in the 19th minute, while Police FC forward MS Bablu scored the equaliser in the 49th minute at the Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur.
