Bangladesh women’s national football team will try to prove that they have improved than before when they face an upper-ranked Chinese Taipei in the first of their two FIFA international friendlies at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in the city today.
Chinese Taipei are 100 steps ahead of Bangladesh (140) in the current FIFA rankings.
The match is scheduled to kick-off at 5:45pm and T Sports will televise the match live from the venue.
This will be the first time that Englishman coach Peter Butler, who is actually the BFF Elite Academy coach, will stand in the Bangladesh women’s team dugout since he was given the job on a temporary basis after former coach Saiful Bari Titu was appointed as the national technical director in March.
‘I have been working with the girls, and to be honest, they are a good group. It’s a challenge, but it does not fear me. I think it’s a great opportunity for our girls to turn around and say, We are better than what we were,’ said Butler in the pre-match press conference at the Bangladesh Football Federation on Thursday.
Visiting team coach Chan Hiu Ming was optimistic that his players would perform admirably, despite the fact that they would be playing against them for the first time against Bangladesh.
‘As away games, of course, our team will face some disadvantages... But our players are well trained, very good, and disciplined. I hope my players can perform up to their very best in the games,’ said Chan.
The second match will be held at the same venue on June 3.
