Uncapped Mahidul Islam was called up while Mohammad Shaifuddin returned as the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Sunday announced the T20I squad for the first two matches of the three-match series against Ireland.

Taskin Ahmed and Shamim Hossain were missed out from the squad that played a three-match T20I series against the West Indies last month.Ìý

Taskin, who is currently playing in the Abu Dhabi T-10 League, has reportedly been granted a No Objection Certificate by the BCB.Ìý

Shamim, meanwhile, has been going through a slump, as he amassed 35 runs in the last two series. However, the BCB didn’t clarify whether Shamim was dropped due to his current form.Ìý

Shaifuddin, who missed out the West Indies series due to an injury, made the comeback.Ìý

On the other hand, Mahidul is the latest inclusion in the middle order that has been going through a difficult time.Ìý

The 26-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, who’s playing in the Rising Stars Asia Cup for Bangladesh ‘A’ in Doha, played a Test and three ODIs for the national team.Ìý

The three-match series against Ireland will be played at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram, with the matches scheduled on November 27, 29 and December 2.

This will be the last T20I series for the Tigers before the World Cup, scheduled to take place in India and Sri Lanka in February-March next year.Ìý
