Iqbal Hossain took a five-for before Kalam Siddiki鈥檚 101 trumped Uzairullah Niazai鈥檚 140 as the Bangladesh Under-19 beat their Afghanistan counterparts by five runs in DLS method in the first of five-Youth ODI series at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura on Tuesday.聽

The visitors scored 265-9 in 50 overs thanks to Uzairullah鈥檚 splendid unbeaten knock, where he hit 16 fours and a six.聽


However, right-arm pacer Iqbal struck regularly to keep them at check, as none could reach fifty other than Uzairullah. Another right-arm pacer, Rizan Hossan, took two wickets.聽

The Bangladesh U-19 suffered early blows when Zawad Abrar and captain Azizul Hakim were back in the hut inside four overs.聽

But Kalam rebuilt with a 45-run partnership with Rifat Beg before adding a further 139 runs with Rizan to take control of the match.聽

Kalam reached his hundred in 116 balls but soon fell after that. He hit 11 fours.聽

However, Rizan remained unbeaten on 75 off 96 deliveries when the umpires deemed the light was insufficient to carry on. Wahidullah Zadran took two wickets for the visitors.聽

The second game is scheduled on October 31 at the same venue.聽
