Mahmudul Hasan鈥檚 71 off 37 and Shahadat Hossain Dipu鈥檚 unbeaten 64 off 36 helped Chattogram to pull off a record chase of 185 runs in just 16.5 overs against Dhaka Metro in the ongoing NCL T20 at the Sylhet International Stadium on Saturday.聽
Chattogram maintained a run rate of 11.04 in their chase, which is the highest for any team in a winning cause in domestic competitions in Bangladesh when the target is at least 185.聽
Opting to bat first, Dhaka Metro posted 185-6 in 20 overs, thanks to three forty-plus innings from Mohammad Naim (46 off 33), Mahfijul Islam (41 off 27), and Mahmudullah (41 off 22).聽
Naim and Mahfijul added 81 for the opening partnership in 8.3 overs before a wobble in the middle dented their progress as they lost six wickets for 48 runs in 46 balls during that phase.聽
But Mahmudullah finished things off with the help of Abu Hider, who remained unbeaten on 24 off 12.聽
Off-spinner Nayeem Hasan took 2-32, while Hasan Mahmud, Md Rubel, and Hasan Murad each took one wicket.聽
Mahmudul and Mominul laid the perfect foundation in Chattogram鈥檚 chase with their opening partnership of 53 runs in 5.3 overs.聽
Mominul made 31 off 18 before Mahmudul and Shahadat added 74 runs off 38 balls.
Mahmudul struck four boundaries and six sixes in his innings. Shahadat then added a further 59 runs off 30 balls with Yasir Ali, where the latter contributed 12 runs. Shahadat hit two fours and five sixes as Chattogram sealed the deal with 19 balls still in hand.聽聽
Rejaur Rahman was the star of the show in another match of the day as Sylhet beat Barishal by two wickets in a thrilling encounter at the same venue.聽
Barishal鈥檚 141-8 in 20 overs came on the back of Fazle Mahmud鈥檚 60 off 44 and Salman Hossain鈥檚 35 off 21. None could reach even the double figures except those two for Barishal.聽
Ebadot Hossain took three wickets for 24 runs, while Asadulla Al Galib, Khaled Ahmed, Rejaur, and Rahatul Ferdous each took one wicket.聽
Sylhet was in dire straits when the seventh wicket fell in the 18th over, with them still needing 32 runs from 15 deliveries.聽
But Rejaur and Khaled collected 20 runs from the 19th over bowled by Ruyel Miah to get the momentum back.聽
They needed 10 from the last six before Rajuar hit a six off the first ball of the last over, while Naim Hossain鈥檚 four off the fourth ball ensured their victory.聽
Rejaur remained unbeaten on 19 off seven and was adjudged player of the match.
