Aviation and Aerospace University, Bangladesh, country’s first and only public university dedicated to aviation and aerospace.
The university has become champion in the International Light Aircraft Design Competition, organised by the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), UK on November 10.
This is the first time that a university team from Bangladesh has won first place in an international aircraft design competition.
RAeS, UK is the world’s only professional society dedicated to aerospace and aviation, and under its overall management, the Light Aircraft Design Competition is held every year.
The main objective of the competition this year was firstly to design an amphibious aircraft capable of carrying 6 to 8 passengers and capable of taking off and landing from both land and water, and secondly, to accomplish a complete basic design of the aircraft.
The RAeS announced the results of the global live competition at this year’s annual conference held in London in front of the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers including Cessna, Boeing, Airbus and academicians from top ranking universities.
AAUB’s ‘Bihongo’ team’s faculty advisor Group Captain Saifur Rahman Bakaul and students of the same department Md Redwan Hasan and Nusrat Binte Alam presented the features and engineering aspects of their designed aircraft such as aerodynamics, propulsion, stability, avionics, performance and mission profile.
It may be specially mentioned that the respected vice-chancellor teachers, officers and employees of the university have played an important role in the design of AAUB’s light aircraft.
The vice-chancellor congratulated the AAUB’s ‘Bihongo’ team for this remarkable achievement.
