The election commission for student union elections at the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology on Monday announced a fresh election schedule, setting January 20, 2026 as the voting day.
Chief election commissioner Abul Mukit Mohammad Mukaddes in a press release announced the new schedule of the Shahjalal University Central Student Union and hall union elections.Â
Earlier on Sunday, university authorities announced that in the face of students’ demand, the election date was shifted to January 20 from the originally fixed date of December 17.
According to the fresh schedule, the draft voter list will be republished on November 26, complaints regarding the draft voter list will be accepted on November 29 and final voter list will be published on December 1.
Nomination papers will be distributed on December 2 and 3 from 10:00am to 3:30pm and submission of the nomination papers will take place in December 3–4.
Verification of the submitted nomination papers will be carried out on December 6 and the list of valid candidates will be published on December 7.
The deadline for withdrawal of candidacy has been set until 3:30pm on December 9.
Appeals regarding candidacy will be accepted and resolved on December 10.
Final list of candidates will be published on December 11.
‘Voting will continue from 9:00am to 4:00pm on January 20, 2026,’ the press release said, adding that vote counting would begin immediately after end of voting.
