The polling date for the Begum Rokeya University Central Students’ Union and Hall Students’ Union elections has been rescheduled to make the elections festive with the spontaneous participation of students.

The previously announced polling date has been changed to December 24 instead of December 29 in a letter signed by the six-member BRUCSU election commission Thursday evening, a press release said.

The BRUCSU election commission said that there was a risk of disruption in the presence and active participation of voters due to the three consecutive public holidays just before the previously announced date.

The decision to bring forward the polling date has been taken so that students can vote without any problems and the electoral environment remains more favourable.

For the first time since its establishment in 2008, the university is set to hold elections for the BRUCSU and Hall Students’ Unions on December 24, 2025.

The election commission expects that the change in the polling date will make the elections festive with the spontaneous participation of students.

‘The commission has released an election reschedule to ensure fair, transparent and participatory elections,’ the release added.
