BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology hosted the National Textile Management Fair 2025 on its Nishatnagar campus at Turag in Dhaka on Sunday.

Presented by Shin Shin Group and powered by Auko-Tex Group, co-powered by Citizens Bank and sponsored by DYSIN and Lejin International Limited, the event was organised by the BUFT Textile Engineering Management and Innovation Club, said a press release.


The fair brought together over 700 participants from 61 institutions, including 24 universities and 37 colleges.

The fair highlighted innovation, research excellence and industry鈥揳cademia collaboration, offering students, educators and industry leaders a forum to explore the future of Bangladesh鈥檚 textile and RMG sectors.

The opening session featured addresses from BUFT leaders and industry experts, including Professor Ayub Nabi Khan, BUFT acting vice-chancellor; Professor Md Abdul Jalil, dean, faculty of sciences; Md Rafiquzzaman, registrar; Sharmin Alam Simi, Standard MH Group; Mohammad Faizur Rahman, AUST; TIM Zahid Hossain, Shin Shin Group; and Sayeed Ahmed Chowdhury, Square Textiles Division.

They emphasised innovation-driven education and the importance of industry collaboration.

Textile Talk sessions offered practical insights on emerging trends and future opportunities, while the Brain Battle Olympiad and Innovation Hub Exhibition showcased student excellence in smart materials, sustainability-focused research, technical innovation and textile knowledge, with projects evaluated on creativity, feasibility, impact, communication and research quality.

The closing and prize-giving ceremony was presided over by Faruque Hassan, chairman of the board of trustees, BUFT and former BGMEA president.

Guest of honour Professor Ayub Nabi Khan and special guests Mohammed Nasir, member of BoT, BUFT; Mohammad Sohel Sadat, chairman, Shin Shin Group; Mohammad Hasan Arif, vice-chairman, EPB; Shahid Hussain Shamim, director, SME Foundation; Engr Abdus Sobhan, managing director, AUKO-TEX Group; Mehedi Hasan, managing director, Nature Craft Bangladesh Ltd; and Rafi Islam, CEO and founder, BWM, praised BUFT for its commitment to nurturing the next generation of textile innovators.

Winners of the Brain Battle Olympiad and Innovation Hub competitions shared a total prize pool of Tk 90,000.

At the college level, the champion, 1st runner-up, and 2nd runner-up were Government Science College, Tamirul Millat Kamil Madrassah and Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College, respectively.

At the university level, the champion, 1st runner-up, and 2nd runner-up were AUST, BUFT and Uttara University, respectively.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Professor Md Alamgir Hossain, treasurer of BUFT, followed by a cultural evening showcasing student creativity and talent, reaffirming BUFT鈥檚 leadership in textile education, innovation and youth development.
