The police on Saturday arrested content creator Ashraful Alam, popularly known as Hero Alam, at Hatirjheel in the capital in connection with an attempt to murder case filed by his former wife Ria Moni.
Confirming the matter, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner for Tejgaon Division, Ibne Mizan, said that he was arrested at his office at Ulon of Hatirjheel.
鈥楾he police arrested Hero Alam following an arrest warrant issued last week against him in the case filed by Riya Moni. He was later sent to the court,鈥� he said.
On November 12, a Dhaka court issued the arrest warrant against Hero Alam, and his associate Ahsan Habib Selim in the case, accusing them of attempted murder, assault, and intimidation.
According to the case statements, Alam divorced the plaintiff Riya Moni following a marital dispute, and ousted her from his house several months ago.
On June 21, Ria and her family members were called to a house in Hatirjheel area to resolve the matter, where Alam and 10 to 12 unidentified individuals verbally abused them.
The accused later forcefully entered Riya鈥檚 current residence, attacked her, and caused bodily injuries.
Following the incident, Ria filed the case with Hatirjheel police station on June 23.
