Dhaka University Central Students’ Union, in collaboration with BIRDEM General Hospital, organised a breast cancer awareness event with the theme ‘Save the Smile’ at TSC auditorium on DU campus in the capital on Tuesday.
DU pro-vice-chancellor, current charge, Sayema Haque Bidisha, was present as chief guest, said a press release.
DU assistant proctor Shehreen Amin Bhuiyan, DUCSU GS SM Farhad, director general of BIRDEM General Hospital Professor Mirza Mahbub, BIRDEM Officers Welfare Association general secretary Md Anwarul Islam, Professor Sharmistha Roy, Masuda Jaya and Hasina Alam spoke at the event.
BIRDEM Officers Welfare Association president Morshed Uddin Akand delivered the welcome speech while DUCSU health and environment secretary Abdullah Al Minhaj, executive members Umma Uswatun Rafia and Afsana Akhter conducted the event.
The seminar informed that every year, about 6,800 women in Bangladesh die of breast cancer.
